Frequently Asked Questions

How long do guinea pigs live?

Guinea pigs typically live between 5 to 7 years, though some can live up to 10 years or more with proper care, nutrition, and a loving environment. Regular vet check-ups and attention to their needs can help them live a long, healthy life.

Are guinea pigs expensive to own?

Guinea pigs are relatively affordable to care for, but like any pet, they come with ongoing costs. Expenses include food (hay, veggies, pellets), bedding, cage supplies, toys, and occasional vet visits. While the initial setup can be an investment, their care is manageable with proper planning.

Are guinea pigs good for kids?

Guinea pigs can make great family pets, but like any pet, they should not be the sole responsibility of children. An adult should be the primary caregiver, as guinea pigs require gentle handling, proper bedding, and daily care. They need at least one hour of floor time, fresh veggies, hay, pellets, and water daily to stay healthy and happy.

Do you have any rabbits?

While we are primarily a guinea pig rescue, we occasionally take in rabbits when space and resources allow. If you're interested in adopting a rabbit, please visit our Available Animals page to see if we currently have any rabbits looking for a loving home.

Where are you located?
